Mages have many spells at their disposal, including all three elemental category magic, except for first and second job advancement magic’s (high level magic attacks available depending on which element job that you choose e.g. a fire mage) the basic magic attack of the mages are bolts. Depending on what element skill that you learned, they can inflict different effects on your opponent with low percentage (see PG2) (note: 'fire bolt' skill will be available to you when your character is created). Most low-level spells can be find in stores, some other from monster drops.
After 'bolts', there will be spells in each element category for you to learn. Such as inferno (bugged) for fire element, ice spear for ice element, and lighting blast for lighting element.
In addition to attacks, there are training and protection skills category. Training category includes (as far as I know) beginner mastery (low level), and intermediate mastery (level 40). All beginner masteries will increase all attacks of one element by 1 point.
Protection spells’s (as far as I know) includes mainly teleport, and mana shield, which can both be learned at level 20. When you put one skill point in mana shield, the damage absorbed, duration, and mana requirement increase. When you put one skill in teleport, the mana requirement will decrease. Unlike any rumors that you heard, mana shield is extremely vital to a mage, if you add more than 5 points to mana shield, the damage that you received will reduce by more than half.
