Guide ContentsTerminology and basic explanations.
There are certain terms to be aware of in Travia so that you can most easily understand the other players:
Basic Terms:
EXP-Experience points. A set amount is required for each level up. Instead of an actual point system, Travia uses an odd percentage system. For some reason, 5000 points of quest experience can count for the same amount as only 50-60 guild experience. The points values should largely be ignored, most players refer to EXP only by the percentage.
HP-Health/hit points. The basic unit of life in any RPG game, when this reaches 0, you die.
MP-Magic/mana points. The basic unit required for spell/skill usage. When you run low, your skills will be unusable.
STR-Strength. Refers to the strength stat of a char. STR is directly related to HP. The more STR you have, the more MAX HP you have. Warriors, Clerics, and Mages gain 1 point off attack damage per 5 points to STR.
DEX-Dexterity. This stat only increases ATK LVL and DEF LVL for most characters. Archers gain 1 point of damage per 5 DEX.
INT-intelligence. Directly related to MP, the more int you have, the more MAX MP you have. Mages gain MATK at the ratio of 1 point per 5 INT.
Luck-Often not abbreviated, the luck stat is pretty useless in travia at the moment. The only chars who need it are level 80+ priests, as they have the only skill that relies on luck. Supposedly, a higher luck stat results in more frequent drops, but does not increase the value of the dropped item. It is also supposed to affect the cleric's skill potency.
ATK-Attack damage. Refers only to physical attacks.
MATK-Magical attack damage.
ATK/DMG LVL-Travia specific-Damage level, or attack class. The higher this is, the better your chances of striking the opponent.
DEF-Physical defense. Reduces damage taken from physical attacks. Decreases temporarily after being attacked.
MDEF-Magical defense. Reduces damage taken by magical attacks. Does not get reduced upon being attacked.
DEF LVL-Travia specific-Defense level. The higher this stat, the better your chances of evading an attack.
Critical Damage-The extra damage done on a critical hit.
Critical Rate-The chance to deliver a critical hit on each strike.
PK-Player Kill, refers to either the act of killing another player, or to someone who kills other players.
KS-Kill Steal, refers to someone "stealing" another player's target. In Travia, the most common KSers are mages.
TP-TelePort, not Toilet Paper. Also refers to "Town Portal" from the diablo games, TP has since become the standard abbreviation meaning the ability to teleport back to town.
Travia Terminology
Balmor-The starting village and outlying region, also referred to as "noob island."
Andarasa-The first real city of Travia. Has the only working guild donation spot, also where you must go in order to create a guild. Most players come here to use halcs or fight in the arena. All Chars start as citizens of Andarasa. Andarasa chars have Purple names.
Britrah-A country of Travia, also the capital of that country. There is nothing much here currently, except a bunch of useless shops that can be found in Andarasa. Joining the country Britrah at level 30 enables you to party with other Britrah chars and join a Britrah guild. You also gain access to EN and Crevata, but you can no longer party with Andarasa chars and you can never join a Deva guild/party or visti Deva terirtory. Britrah chars have blue names.
Deva- A country of Travia, and teh capital of that country. Basically teh same as Britrah, except for the orange names and different maps. Joining Deva enables acess to the Lost Forest and Desair Canyon.
Elsarm-An embattled map/town where PK is enabled. Hard enemies adn low EXP kep most chars out, but good equipment can be found here. Demolators spawn here.
DF-The Dark Forest. The area between Andarasa and all other countries, the reccomended level for attempting to fight here is 15+. The first place that you can encounter special monsters and find rare equipment. Also the main trading capital of the game, currently. Channels 1 and 2 are seperate in DF and later lands.
DC-The Dark Cave. Has four levels of increasing difficulty and PK is enabled here against members of other in game countries. The levels of the Dark Cave are reffered to as DC1, DC2, DC3, and DC4. DC3/4 has special monsters that drop higher level rare equipment than DF. Related Term: Jargon Spot- refers to a section of DC2 where the monster "Jargon" appears in large groups. A favorite leveling spot before PK was neabled there.
EN-Elven Noa. The second Britrah map, contains many magical enemies. Only slightly better EXP than DC3/4.
LF-Lost Forest. The second map fo Deva. I cannot go there, so I can't offer much info on this place.
Crevata-Third map of Britrah, hard as hell to fight here except just outside of camp. The enemies currently give no base drops, and there is a bug which prevents players from picking up skills that are dropped. Only slightly better exp than EN.
Desair Canyon-The third map of Deva. Again, I cannot collect much info on this place.
Halc- Halcon, an item used to imbue a basic item with magical properties. In order to use a Halcon, you must take it to the blacksmith in the eastern corner of Andarasa. Only adding a slight benefit when used on an item, Halc use should be avoided until you are around level 30+, and then only used to make armor. Using a halc has a chance of destroying the item and halc.
Rare/Magic/Craft Scrolls-An item used to strengthen equipment. Rare Craft can only be used on rare equipment, magic can only be used on equipment that a Halcon has been used on, and craft scrolls can only be used on base equipment. Rare craft scrolls are hard to come by, so if you find them, hold onto them. They are best used on a level 30+ rare "god" weapon. Magic Craft and Craft scrolls should be used to craft armor for level 30+. When you use a scroll, it gives the item a bonus of +1. You can get up to +4 wihtout much worry, but at +5 there is a 10% chance of breaking the item, which increases with every scroll added afterwards.
Rare equipment-Refers to the equipment dropped by bosses. The weapons are more powerful than anything you can craft, but the armor is less and less effective after level 30.Rare equipment is "shiny" and makes the character shine, or glow, a certain color depending on the equipment type.
Boss-Also called rare monsters, these are monsters that have a glowing ring around their feet. They are much stronger than normal enemies of their type and come in two varieties. The "normal" boss just has the glowing ring and 2 minions. Both the boss and minions will be more powerful than usual, but the boss will have much better evasion an HP. The "super rares" are bosses that have the glowing ring aura, two minions, and also glow a certain color. The color they glow indicates what sort of item they carry, and they ALWAYS drop a rare item when defeated. The colors they can glow are silver, blue, sky blue, dull black, or red. If the super rare carries a piece of armor, they will be a bit harder to hit than normal bosses, but otherwise are the same. If it carries a weapon, it will be the same as any normal boss with the exception of doing MUCH more damage.
Demolator-The hardest enemy in Travia, a special boss monster. Only one shows up at a time, there is a five minute countdown to its appearance, and it only shows up in southern Elsarm. Extremely difficult to defeat, the Demolator can drop multiple high level rares and a lot of tra. |
